SC Ph.D. student Jhamieka Greenwood has been awarded The McKnight Doctoral Fellowship which provides up to five years of funding support for newly enrolled African American and Hispanic graduate students who intend to seek a Ph.D. degree. The McKnight Doctoral Program is a state-wide program administered through the Florida Education Fund (FEF). The program is designed to address the under-representation of African American and Hispanic faculty at colleges and universities in the state of Florida by increasing the pool of citizens qualified doctoral graduates to teach at the college and university level. As a by-product, it is expected that employment opportunities in industry will also be expanded.

Luke Van Popering earns the first master’s degree from Florida State’s new interdisciplinary data science program
When asked how it feels to be the first graduate of the Interdisciplinary Data Science Master’s Degree Program in Florida State University’s history, Luke Van Popering shrugged and chuckled.
“Presumably how it feels being the second graduate or third graduate,” Van Popering said, swiftly avoiding any opportunity to brag about the accomplishment.

Ph.D. candidate Tara Khodaei is a finalist in the Graduate School’s Honors, Scholars, and Fellows Student Excellence in the Visual Arts competition. Khodaei’s piece, Greedy Seed, “highlights the human seizure of planet Earth and how it directly affects the collapse of ecosystems and the loss of nature.”
